Albanian & English

# Bilingual Albanian and English wedding invitations, _for family at home and friends abroad._

Write your invitation once and add Albanian and English. Every guest opens it in your first language and switches with the globe, and in Albanian the date comes out the Albanian way on its own. The schedule, the dress code and your questions can be written by you in each language, so the Albanian reads the way your family would say it.

Both languages come with Essential, €175 once. Design and preview free.

## Albanian and English wedding wording, side by side

Three ways to word the invitation, then the RSVP and dress-code lines, each written the way it is said in Albanian and in English rather than translated word for word. Copy what fits, change the names, and send both languages together with the link, by [WhatsApp](https://pressedlove.com/whatsapp-wedding-invitation) or on a card with a [QR code](https://pressedlove.com/wedding-invitation-qr-code).

### The invitation wording

On the invitation itself, the design lays out your names, the date and the venue with a ready-made line in each language. These fuller wordings belong in the message that carries the link, or on a printed card, where both languages sit together as they would on paper.

- Formal, from both families

    English

The Krasniqi and Berisha families request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their children, Arta and Driton. Your presence will make our joy complete.

    Shqip

Me rastin e martesës së fëmijëve të tyre, Artës dhe Dritonit, familjet Krasniqi dhe Berisha kanë nderin t’ju ftojnë në festën e dasmës. Gëzimi ynë do të jetë i plotë me praninë tuaj.

- Warm, from the two of you

    English

Arta & Driton We’re getting married! We would love to share the day with you.

    Shqip

Arta & Driton Po martohemi! Do të ishim shumë të lumtur ta ndanim këtë ditë me ju.

- For Nata e Kënës

    English

The Krasniqi family invites you to Arta’s henna night, Nata e Kënës, on Friday 11 June at 7 pm at the family home. The wedding follows on Saturday.

    Shqip

Me rastin e Natës së Kënës së Artës, familja Krasniqi ka kënaqësinë t’ju ftojë të premten, më 11 qershor, në orën 19:00, në shtëpinë e familjes. Dasma vijon të shtunën.

### The RSVP line

The reply form and its “Please RSVP by” date are ready-made in Albanian and English on the invitation. Add one of these lines to your message so guests know when, and where, to answer.

- With a reply-by date

    English

    Kindly reply by 1 May.

    Shqip

Ju lutemi të konfirmoni pjesëmarrjen deri më 1 maj.

- Pointing to the RSVP button

    English

Let us know if you can come: the RSVP button is on the invitation.

    Shqip

Na tregoni nëse do të vini: butonin për konfirmim e gjeni në ftesë.

### The dress code

In the studio the dress code has two tabs: the first for the language your invitation opens in, the other named for the second language. Paste one line into each, and every guest reads the version for the language they chose.

- Formal evening

    English

    Dress code: formal evening wear.

    Shqip

Kodi i veshjes: veshje formale mbrëmjeje.

- Traditional dress welcome

    English

    Traditional dress is warmly welcome.

    Shqip

Veshjet tradicionale janë më se të mirëseardhura.

### Before you copy

- **Let the Albanian speak for the families.** A formal Albanian invitation is often sent in the families’ name, and it changes the endings of your names as the sentence needs (Artës, Dritonit), which English never does. That is why the formal example differs between the languages, and why a word-for-word version reads oddly in either.
- **Write standard Albanian for everyone.** Guests from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and the diaspora all read standard Albanian (gjuha standarde) the same way, whether they speak Gheg or Tosk at home. Keep your own text in the standard language, and save a family phrase for the warm line in your message.
- **Explain Nata e Kënës in English.** Albanian weddings often run over more than one evening, and English has no word for the henna night. Give each evening its own time and venue in the schedule, and in the English tab add a line on what Nata e Kënës is and who is invited to it.

## How guests switch _between Albanian and English_

1. 1

    ### Add both languages

In the studio, open Languages and add Albanian and English. The first on the list is what every guest sees on opening, and the language your text is translated from.

2. 2

    ### Write once, then rewrite

Write in your first language, and each save translates it into the other. Then use the tab named for your second language to write your own schedule, questions, dress code, gift note and area-map note.

3. 3

    ### Guests tap the globe

The globe on the invitation lists Shqip and English. One tap switches everything: section titles, the date, the RSVP form and your own text.

4. 4

    ### Dates the Albanian way

In Albanian the date is written as Albanian writes it, day first and the month in lower case (15 maj 2027), with no work from you. The choice stays in the page address (?lang=sq), so a refresh keeps it.

## What is translated, and what you write

Part of a bilingual invitation comes ready in both languages, part is translated from your own words, and some things are never translated at all.

### Ready-made in both languages

- Section titles, buttons and the countdown
- The “We’re getting married” line
- The RSVP form, and the “Please RSVP by” line with its date
- The wedding date, written the way each language writes dates

### Translated from your words when you save

- The schedule, and your questions and answers
- The dress code and the gift note
- The note under the area map
- Event names and the questions you add to the RSVP form
- Any heading or line you rewrite

### Never translated

- Your names and your parents’ names
- Venue names, addresses and map links
- Times, web addresses and email addresses
- Bank details for a gift fund

The schedule, questions and answers, dress code, gift note and area-map note each have a tab per language in the studio: write your own version there, or leave it blank to keep the automatic one. ## Questions, _answered_

### Can guests switch between Albanian and English on one invitation?

Yes, on Essential and Premium. Add Albanian and English in the studio; every guest opens the invitation in the first language on your list and switches with the globe. Section titles, the date, the RSVP form and your own text all change with it.

### Should Albanian or English come first?

Put first the language most of your guests read, ideally the one you write best, because every link opens in it and your text is translated from it. For a wedding in Albania or Kosovo that is often Albanian; with most guests in the UK or the US, often English. You can change the order at any time.

### Is the Albanian machine-translated?

Section titles, buttons, the date and the RSVP form come ready-made in Albanian. Your own text is machine-translated when you save: it carries the facts, but it can sound stiff and miss the way your family would say things. Read the Albanian in the preview with a native speaker and rewrite the schedule, dress code and questions in the Albanian tab where it matters.

### Do relatives in Albania or Kosovo get the invitation in Albanian automatically?

No. Every link opens in the first language on your list, whatever the guest’s phone is set to, and the guest switches with one tap on the globe. If your first language is English, mention the globe, in Albanian, in the message you send with the link.

### Will our names keep ë and ç?

Yes. Names are never translated or changed: they appear exactly as you type them, ë and ç included, in both languages. Type them once correctly, rather than the Arber or Drite of a keyboard without those letters.

### Which plan do we need for an Albanian and English invitation?

Essential (€175, once) or Premium (€395, once). Starter (€49) publishes the invitation in one language only, without the switch. You can add both languages and preview them while you design, and choose the plan when you publish.
